Girl on Blue

I'm writing this before I scan the painting, so I don't know how it'll look on-screen, but how different could it be, eh? And I guess it doesn’t really matter, so whatever. [I ended up taking a picture of the framed painting.]

Completed: July 19, 2011

Anyways, this is the first time I went through the whole process/mix of pencil, ink, and paint.
I've learned a lot in the making of this, so here are some tips I would give to myself if/when I do this again:
Sketch with a pencil, watercolor/paint over that, and then trace over with ink.
In this case, I painted after outlining in ink, so it smudged and bled like crazy, although I do like the effect in some areas.
Especially with watercolors, the color will dry significantly lighter than it may appear wet.
I intended for her to be a brunette, but the result was a darkish blonde.
Take pictures of the process – just because I like looking back at them.

I had a hard time thinking of a title or name, and still don't know what to name it
Unlike most of my other works – is that the right word? “Works?” – this wasn’t inspired by anything in particular except for my state of messy hair – although this isn’t a self portrait.
The main purpose of this was to experiment with water coloring and ink and it was a mission successful…. Is that right? No, --Mission Accomplished!

Haha, so I’ve been reading other people’s blogs which is how I wisely chose to spend my time this vacation (I’ll let you decide how wise that is) and I’ve noticed that I enjoy it when people write as if they are casually speaking, so I decided I would start writing about the process and try writing as if I were talking to my reader(s). One problem is that when I write like this I forget to add periods at the end. And even Microsoft Word doesn’t catch this. As if I’m writing poetry!?

I realize that I don’t actually talk this way, but I do think the way I write – or rather, write the way I think
